Strawberry farmers past and present have been honored with the “Strawberry Farmer Wall of Fame” located in front of city hall. In 2001 the Louisiana Legislature selected the strawberry as the state fruit. Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival is held in April of every year and is the second largest festival in the state. America's Antique City

In Ponchatoula where pickup trucks, and antique vases go hand-in-hand people make a difference. Antiques and strawberries are working together to make Ponchatoula a unique tourist stop.

“America’s Antique City, Ponchatoula, Louisiana” began in January of 1989. Its development was the idea of the Ponchatoula Chamber Commerce. With a strong spirit of cooperation between City Officials, local businesses and the Chamber the idea became a reality. The results were dramatic in one year the occupancy of the Historic Downtown rose to 80%. In 1991 Ponchatoula became part of the Louisiana Main Street Program.

Since it’s inception “America’s Antique City “ has grown and thrived becoming a destination for antique lovers from allover the globe. It is a great day trip or weekend destination for families.

We offer antiques and collectibles from country to Victorian. Furniture, glassware and much more can be seen in every shop. Art galleries and specialty shops add another attraction to our historic downtown. Ponchatoula Country Market located in the old train depot with their great selection of crafts and antiques is a wonderful step back in time. Restaurants featuring casual fine dining, local cuisine and home style cooking are all conveniently located in and around the downtown area. Overnight lodging is available and RV parks are just a short drive away.

There’s always something great happening in Ponchatoula so if you just have a day or the whole weekend make it your destination.
