Ponchatoula is “Strawberry Capital of the World”. Our delicious strawberries are available from November to April. Strawberry farmers past and present have been honored with the “Strawberry Farmer Wall of Fame” located in front of city hall. In 2001 the Louisiana Legislature selected the strawberry as the state fruit. Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival is held in April of every year and is the second largest festival in the state. We pride ourselves on keeping our small town values while keeping up with growing needs of our community. Ponchatoula is a great  place to live and work. “Small Town Values Big Business Opportunities” is not just a slogan for our area. We are very proud of our public and parochial school system, as well as our many churches and faith based organizations. Ponchatoula has many community based non-profit organizations. The Ponchatoula Area Recreation Department has a sixty-acre park offering baseball, football, soccer and softball for children beginning at age five. We have parks and playgrounds conveniently located around the downtown, while just a short drive away is Global Wildlife Center and Tickfaw State Park.

Shopping in Ponchatoula is an enjoyable experience with our many wonderful antique, arts and specialty shops. Restaurants from casual fine dining to home cooking featuring local cuisine as well as fast food are located here. All types of professional services are available. Our seventy -acre industrial park houses many of our larger businesses while others are located around the downtown area. From locally owned grocery stores to full service gas stations Ponchatoula has it all. Come and enjoy our lovely historic district with our restored early 20th century architecture. Stop by the Collinswood Museum for a tour and a history lesson on our community. For more information on our City Government and services visit our helpful links page.
